Construction of New Services

For a new service, please contact the Lakeland Power Co-op office at 780.632.6112 or toll-free 1.866.635.6112.

Once we have the initial information, a work order is opened and a Team Lead will contact you to schedule a meeting for an onsite visit to reconfirm your requirements and determine the most efficient and cost effective method to install the service, or tap.

Pursuant to that meeting, you will be provided with a quote outlining all appropriate work and cost. Upon acceptance of the quote and receipt of payment, installation begins. Lakeland Power Co-op prides itself on its historical construction average of 2 weeks.

Pole Replacement

To maintain a reliable distribution system, Lakeland Power Co-op budgets for an annual maintenance program.

In addition to vegetation management (brushing), pole testing and replacement is a key maintenance activity. Lakeland Power Co-op completes this work using in-house employees within a schedule that utilizes our work force in the most productive manner.

Vegetation Management

Brushing and vegetation management is critical to eliminate damage to power line infrastructure.

Lakeland Power Co-op acknowledges that safe and reliable electricity distribution is essential to our membership and vegetation management is an important component of our operations and maintenance (O&M) program.

Annual distribution service areas are reviewed and scheduled for appropriate brushing and trimming.

Micro-Generation

Micro-generation is a small-scale local electricity production, which uses renewable and alternative energy sources. Solar power is the most common micro-generation in Alberta, and you can use the power you generate to offset a portion of your own electricity consumption.

INTERESTED IN GENERATING YOUR OWN ELECTRICITY?

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) oversees the implementation of Micro-Generation Regulation.  They have developed processes to simplify approvals and interconnection agreements.

To qualify as a micro-generator you must:

  1. only use renewable or alternative energy sources to produce electricity
  2. Produce energy intended to meet all or a portion of your energy needs. (If you want to generate electricity to earn revenue, and not for your own use, you are considered a commercial generator)
  3. Have generation capacity that does not exceed five (5) megawatts
  4. Supply energy only to a site that you own/lease
  5. Install the micro-generation unit on the site the energy is consumed or on a property you own/lease adjacent to the micro-generation site
